About Javoid Software

Javoid was created in 2008 by Russell Sullivan with the goal of creating mobile applications for various platforms.  Initial applications were created for Google Android devices, which later expanded into development for Apple platforms, including the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Mobile platforms are growing at an incredible pace, with no end in site.  As of 2011, figures show less than 12% of the global population uses smart phones.  Soon, almost every human on the planet will have a smart phone, and will be able to use applications on them.

I have been programming since I first got my hands on a Commodore 64, around 1984.  Since then I’ve used BASIC, C, C++, Java, C#, Objective-C, Ruby and a touch of Lua.

The term Javoid comes from Java, the computer language, and the Java Sparrow.  The -oid suffix relates to the Latin -oides, which refers to form or resemblance.
